What do you do with the poetry you’ve written that just doesn’t seem to be of a style that could easily find a home in a journal or magazine?
Well, that’s easy to decide…you combine them with some unlikely poems that did make it and create a book to present to the world for all to read!
The Doggerel Dog brings together a collection of poems written by Keith E. Sparks Jr. based primarily in rhyme and dabbling in the lyrical yet irregular rhythm commonly associated with what has become known as Doggerel Verse.
Inspirational at times, melancholy and sad now and again, then flipping the switch to lighthearted whimsical tales "the dog" travels a winding path and attempts to tap the emotions of its readers and draw them in for a memorable read.

Facets brings to you a varied collection of poetry written by Keith E Sparks Jr. Beginning with aspects of love lost, found, or unrequited, and bringing them alive in a unique manner that can wind is way through darkness as well as light. Highlighting the inner turmoil of a wounded heart and the struggle to find ones way back when the opportunity for love again lights the way. Then pushing forward into contemplation offering a wide variety of poems intended to invoke thought and capture the hearts and minds of the reader and send them wandering down, sometimes dark, sometimes serene, settings. Keith's work has been published in various literary journals and magazines over the years; in 2004, he received a nomination for the Pushcart Poetry Prize through Skyline Magazine. Shortly after, he left the writing scene not to return to it until December of 2019 with the release of "Facets" his first full length endeavor.

30 Days of Triolet

When inspiration seems to flag and we cannot seem to find the words needed to produce that epic poem or finish the chapter or story whose fashioning simply refuses to come to fruition...sometimes stepping back and trying another approach can be incredibly useful in smashing the hellish wall.
One of the most unlikely, and overlooked options one can try, is a simple form known as the Triolet.
The triolet is a very simplistic fixed form of French origin dating as far back as the thirteenth century and has managed to keep itself finding a way to the poet's page throughout the centuries. Often recommended by Keith E. Sparks Jr. as a pleasant diversion that can keep a writer writing even when they cannot find the path to the epics they desire. So it was that He accepted a 30 day challenge to write at least one Triolet a day for 30 days to demonstrate the usefulness of the form in combatting both writer's block and/or a lack of time.
This book is the end result of challenges accepted by Keith E. Sparks Jr. having been brought together and chronicled in a diverse collection of topics and form experimentation. (mixing triolet with the Cento and Hidden Message poems) It is Keith's hope that people will find, not only a pleasant read, but a weapon against writer's block and a way to shatter the wall...
